Methodology

How watchlist alerts work

Alpha Sentinel is an automated financial data monitoring tool. Alerts describe screening conditions from market data only. They are identical for every user and do not constitute investment advice.

Trigger logic

Sentinel Shield evaluates each monitored symbol across multiple conditions and timeframes, then computes a composite health score from 0 to 100. State transitions (SAFE / CAUTION / ALERT / ACTIVE) drive alerting behavior.

Data sources

Primary market data is sourced from Polygon.io. Twelve Data and Alpha Vantage may be used as backup providers when the primary feed is unavailable.

Severity (Shield state bands)

Condition labels reflect the Sentinel state and composite deterioration/recovery bands. Display format in product copy is CONDITION: [LEVEL].

  • GREEN — SAFE state with healthy composite conditions.
  • YELLOW — CAUTION state.
  • ORANGE — ALERT state.
  • RED — ACTIVE state or high-priority overlay event.

Timeframe (alert sensitivity)

  • Conservative — Early Warning + Standard + Confirmed Sentinel tiers.
  • Balanced — Standard + Confirmed Sentinel tiers.
  • Aggressive — Confirmed tier only.

What the system does not do

  • It does not provide investment advice or recommendations to buy, sell, or hold.
  • It does not execute trades or manage your watchlist.
  • It does not personalize outputs per user; screening rules are the same for everyone.

How to use this data

Use alerts as one input in your own research. Verify figures against your broker or data vendor. Consult a qualified financial professional before making investment decisions.
